The base game is the same draw-and-guess loop as Skribbl.io: one player draws a word, the others race to type it, and the fastest guesses score the most. Sketchful adds other modes on top, among them Free Draw, Co-Op, Flashlight and Knock Out, and a long catalogue of themed word lists (animals, anime, brands, shapes and many more) that a lobby can play with, or your own uploaded list.
Lobbies are set up by their owner: public or private, from 1 to 25 rounds, a drawing time from 15 seconds to 5 minutes and a player cap that goes far beyond a usual party room. The canvas has keyboard shortcuts (F to fill, B for the brush, E to erase, Z to undo), and with a login you can save drawings to a gallery. It suits groups who have played plenty of plain Pictionary and want more variety.
