What funny.io is
An index of io games that still run, kept by Moltke Benjaminsen ApS, Denmark, under its Moltke Benjaminsen Alpha label. It lists games, describes them in a sentence or two, and gives each one a page where you can play it. It does not make games, host games, or sell anything.
How the play pages work
A play page shows the game inside a frame. The game loads straight from its own domain, the same files its own site serves, unchanged. funny.io does not copy, host, proxy, modify or inject anything into the game, and it cannot see what happens inside the frame. The game's own terms, privacy policy, ads, accounts and purchases apply inside it exactly as on its own site.
Two things follow from that. First, browsers keep storage separate per embedding site, so a save or login made inside the frame here is separate from one made on the game's own site. If you have progress there, open the game there. Every play page links to it. Second, if a game misbehaves, changes or goes down, that is between you and the game. The only check made here is that the game ran on the date in the footer.
A game that asks not to be framed, by sending an X-Frame-Options or frame-ancestors header, is not framed. Its page links to the game's own site instead. Such a header is never worked around. Today that is 7 games: Agar.io, Gota.io, Wormax.io, Snake.io, OpenFront.io, GolfParty.io, TETR.IO.
If you made one of these games
Your game is here because it meets the bar on the front page and ran when checked. Any of these can be had by mail to [email protected]. The first needs no mail at all.
- Link instead of frame. Set a frame header on your site and the next build follows it. Or mail, and the flag gets set by hand.
- A different address. If you have a partner build, or want a tagged URL to see traffic from here, send it and it goes in.
- Removal. Say so and the game comes out.
Frames send your site a normal referrer of https://funny.io/, so funny.io shows up in your analytics like any other site.
Privacy
funny.io has no accounts, no ads, no forms and sets no cookies. It counts page views with a self-hosted copy of Umami, which stores no IP addresses and sets no cookies. The count shows which games people play. The site is served by Cloudflare, which sees requests the way any host does. Inside a frame, the game's own privacy policy governs, not this one.
Names, artwork and the list
Game names, logos and everything inside the frames belong to their makers. The descriptions and the category structure are ours. The list is public as games.json. Reuse it with a link back.
The rest
The site is offered as is by Moltke Benjaminsen ApS. It may be wrong, and games may vanish between checks. Danish law applies. Corrections and complaints go to [email protected].
